Citizenship

Citizenship

Individuals may be eligible to obtain U.S. citizenship through a process called “Naturalization”.

The Mark Kocol Law Group can prepare and file the required documents for this process. For a free consultation, please fill out the web consultation form or call 312-588-0466.

Naturalization is available for:

  • Foreign Nationals who have lived in the U.S. as a permanent resident for 5 years
  • Spouses of a U.S. citizen who have lived in the U.S. as a permanent resident for 3 years
  • Foreign Nationals who have lived in the U.S. as a permanent resident with asylum for 4 years
  • Permanent residents with 3 years of U.S. military service

Individuals born outside the U.S. that have a claim to US citizenship through their parents may apply for a citizenship certificate. This would include children with at least one parent that was a U.S. citizen at the time of the child’s birth and children under 18 holding a green card who are adopted by US citizens.
